Dental Sedation

We do not have an NHS contract for sedation, We do have dentists who offer it privately.

Dental Sedation Methods

Dental sedation is a technique that can be used when a patient suffers from dental anxiety or dental phobia. So Depending on the extent of the anxiety or phobia, varying degrees of sedation can be utilized, including conscious sedation with sedatives, inhalation nitrous oxide sedation, and intravenous (IV) sedation.

These sedation dentistry ways enable patients who might else avoid the dentist to admit dental treatment necessary for a healthy smile.

Types of Dental Sedation

There are three types of sedation methods used by sedation dentists today:
Dental Sedation

1-Oral Sedatives

Oral sedative medications similar as diazepam can be given to a patient the night before a dentistry procedure or 30 minutes to an hour before the dental appointment, depending on the severity of the anxiety. So Oral sedatives don’t give pain relief, so an injection of original anaesthetic will also be administered.

2-Intravenous (IV) Sedation

Like oral sedatives, intravenous (IV) sedation doesn’t give pain relief, so an injection of original anaesthetic will also be administered in conjunction with this method of sedation.

3-Nitrous Oxide Sedation

IIn one form of conscious inhalation sedation, nitrous oxide gas ( also known as laughing gas) is used to induce a state of relaxation. A original anesthetic will be administered in combination with nitrous oxide sedation to exclude pain.
